Infection Prevention Specialist RN - FT Weekdays Exempt

RN Candidates are preferred for this position, but will consider Master s of Public Health with experience in Infection Prevention.
The Infection Preventionist RN coordinates, implements, and evaluates the organization's infection prevention and control program.
- Collects and performs statistical analysis, interpretation and dissemination of healthcare acquired infection data, including risk assessment, surveillance priorities, and outcomes analysis.
- Monitors local, state, and federal regulations and ensures compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies' standards and requirements.
- Performs and reports surveillance studies using risk stratification and appropriate benchmarking for evaluation of data or ratios. Uses basic statistical techniques to describe data.
- Reviews hospital acquired infections utilizing best practices in identifying root causes and process improvement and then facilitates implementation of solutions to mitigate risk to future patients.

Minimum Education
Master s of Public Health MPH will be considered for non-nursing candidates.
BSN preferred for RN Candidates
Required Skills
Needs working knowledge and understanding of microbiology. Must have familiarity with agents that cause disease, and reservoirs, known spectrum of disease. Demonstrated interest in prevention and control.

Current Virginia State RN license
Required:
Certification of Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) required within 2 years of hire.
Minimum Work Experience
Required - Minimum of 3 years experience in Clinical Nursing, Public Health Nursing, or Infection Control.
