As a Network Field Support Engineer for Viasat you will provide hands on support of relevant Viasat secure communication networking equipment and associated technologies at a customer's secure enterprise transport and cloud networking facility in the northern VA / Washington DC area.
You will be an important direct link between the customer and Viasat, providing support for network device installations, device management, device configuration, routine maintenance updates, and managing rapid issue resolution as needed.
You will also have opportunities to consult directly with the customer's network engineers regarding network architecture, planning, design, and technical specifications associated with the relevant Viasat products and functions in their network.
Job Responsibilities Perform customer onsite support for Viasat network equipment, including provisioning, installation, device configuration, management tool installations, and general support to the customer's enterprise class network.
Implement maintenance, device management, and troubleshooting of Viasat network equipment connected to the customer's systems, including recommending firmware upgrades, performing audit log / alarm analysis.
Operate as a liaison between Viasat and the customer ensuring proper issue escalation, and communicating / collaborating with Viasat developers and managers for rapid issue response and resolution related to Viasat products.
Engage with customer's network engineers and provided recommendations for network architecture, technical specifications, network planning, and design associated with relevant Viasat products and functions.
Requirements.
Bachelors in STEM related field - Math, Physics, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Related Work Experience or equivalent.

Minimum 5
years of relevant technical experience in the field of network administration or network engineering with an understanding of OSI Layer 2 / 3 networking or adjacent technologies.
Must be familiar with enterprise data transport or cloud network infrastructures, access points, or other relevant high availability near real time networks.
Must be able to travel 25%.

Must have TS/SCI clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph.
Preferences.
Knowledge of the complexities with overarching network security requirements (eg information security INFOSEC and communications security COMSEC).

Experience with configuring and managing OSI Layer 2 / 3 related equipment and technologies, eg Routers, Switches, OTNs; Fiber Optics.

Knowledge of associated Layer 2 / 3 networking protocols and security, eg TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, MACsec; SDN Controllers, Rest APIs, OpenFlow, network encryption modes, user authentication, key management, COMSEC / INFOSEC.

Experience with Linux / UNIX, Windows applications, VMware, enterprise class device management tools, and/or various software automation scripting or programming languages such as Python, TCL, Matlab.
Experience with common test and analysis equipment, eg network sniffers, network traffic generators, LAN/WAN simulation equipment and light level meters.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
