The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an experienced Operations System Engineer with an aptitude to apply current skills and knowledge to support a 24x7 operational environment on a proprietary program, located in the Chantilly, VA area.
This position will report to theareas Chief Engineer andsupports the operational environment, including; engineering, product quality, information technology, and software development.
Within these disciplines there will be an opportunity to gain certification/qualification in the following areas:
Scheduler (24x7 support)Product Support Analyst (day staff)Mission Operations Planner (both 24x7 & Day staff options)Position
Responsibilities:
Perform engineering and operational functions, supporting the customer''s needs through customized software suites.
Research, analyze and compile complex technical data for system-level concepts in the projected operational environments to optimize effectiveness over the program lifecycle.
Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach in leading activities to plan, design, develop and verify systems and system solutions.
Supports continual evaluation of customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
Performs analyses to optimize system performance and architecture.
Perform analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, vulnerability, system security, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
Develops, designs, and conducts research/investigations that results in new requirements management methodologies or result in unique approaches that mitigate assessment/review findings.
Creates and implements strategic approaches for program and business area decisions.
Manage system assets through resource managementParticipates in the development of engineering processes, methods and toolsEnsure near-term schedules are met for an operational systemSupports contingency and emergency operationsCertify/qualify, as defined, on custom software; for any certifications/qualification requirements, we utilized structured training plans and on the job training.
Work Authorization:
This position requires an active Top Secret / SCI US Security Clearance.
(US Citizenship Required).
(A US Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)This position is contingent on program approval.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):
Active Top Secret / SCI US Security Clearance with Poly (Pre-Start)Preferred
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree or higherExperience with basic systems engineering principles and coordination efforts.
General knowledge and experience with the Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process, or other corrective action resolution processes to include basic understanding of discrepancy/defect issues and artifacts assessmentAptitude and willingness to work as a Systems Engineer in several disciplines with the aptitude to learn and adapt quickly to an operational environmentAbility to adjust to changing priorities, multiple demands, have strong analytical skills, and strength for attention to detail.
Proficiency with MS Office suiteFamiliarity with Unix and Windows environmentsAbility to collaborate among multiple disciplines, in order to support a 24x7 operational center.
Ability to work in a tight-knit team environment and have reliable work attendanceCustomer focused attitude and professionalismAbility to support 24/7 operationsTypical Education /
Experience:
Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (eg Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years'' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (eg PhD, Master+3 years'' related work experience).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
