Senior Payload/Software Engineer
The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Payload/Software Engineer / Image Scientist in Herndon, VA that requires the ability to lead payload capabilities teams, software development, and of data processing algorithms and tools to advance the future design and exploitation of data from various sensors.
This position will transition these tools and capabilities into a production environment to support analytical capabilities, where customer focus, teamwork, and communication are critical.
Position
Responsibilities:
Ability to lead, design, develop, integrate and maintain new software functionality and payload capabilities in a cutting edge environmentFamiliarity with various imaging systems (ie HSI, EO, Radar, IR, LIDAR, SIGINT principles, etc), phenomenology and processing techniques.
Experience with overhead infrared sensor data to include sensor characterization, data analysis, sensor modeling, signature extraction and exploitation, and/or algorithm development.
Experience in interpreting results from onboard and offline algorithms and automated processors in order to address intelligence requirements.
Understanding and application of standard software engineering principlesAbility to work with previously written code and make modifications as necessaryRequires in-depth, hands-on experience developing algorithms and tools in a team environment.
Experience with ENVI, RemoteView, SOCET GXP, Agility, Matlab, and IDL, or equivalent development and processing applications.
Requires familiarity with Unix and Windows based workstations, various COTS packages including tools for product creation, modification and off-line analysis of image data.
This position requires an active TS/SCI US Security Clearance (US Citizenship Required).
(A US Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
4-yr BS degree in relevant field (computer science, engineering, image science, etc).
Typical Education &
Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (eg Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (eg PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
